Tena Koutou Welcome to NACEW

Our focus is on women and employment in New Zealand, advising the Minister of Women's Affairs, undertaking research and disseminating information to a broad audience as well as other initiatives related to our areas of interest.

Women have experienced significant progress in the workplace since NACEW was founded in 1967. Yet, women continue to face disadvantages in the labour market. NACEW’s vision of work that works for women – fairness, participation, quality and choice is reinforced by its mission to be a key reference point for the Minister of Women's Affairs for quality advice in relation to the employment of women. To work towards this shared aim the Council has identified four priority areas in women’s employment: Flexible Working Arrangements; Gender representation in television and film aimed at children aged 12 years and under; Remuneration and Equity Data; and, Men supporting women in employment through their contribution to childcare.
