Barbara Burton – Business New Zealand
Barbara Burton is currently employed as Legal Adviser by Business New Zealand (formerly the New Zealand Employers’ Federation), where she has been involved in writing employer guidelines on topics such as the Human Rights Act, sexual harassment and equal employment opportunities. Barbara has a Masters degree in English and a law degree (the latter done part-time while caring for five children and also working part-time).
Barbara was a member of the Equal Opportunities Ministerial Advisory Group and is currently a member of the Ministry of Social Development's Work Family and Parenting Reference Group. She was employer spokesperson at the ILO Asian Regional Consultation on the Follow-up to the Beijing Platform of Action in the World of Work in Manila in 1999, as well as attending other ILO Asian Region symposiums on standards related topics and an earlier seminar in Geneva on Equal Employment Opportunities.
Barbara is the longest standing member of NACEW and has been actively involved in many NACEW projects over the years.
